The new white rain poncho has been made for walking pilgrims.
A pilgrim hat ,Staff (Kongōzue),Pants and Shoes are not included in this price.
We have updated it in May, 2018. The poncho is now 100g (0.22 pounds) lighter. We also put buttons on the back of the poncho that can be used to adjust the length of the hem.
You can wear it on the Shikoku Pilgrimage, including the Bangai-fudasho (the 20 extra tempels with a historical connection to the henro). Rain gears are a necessity even if you are walker who uses public transportation. This is a highly functional rain poncho that has been designed to reflect the wishes of many henro. This is an original product, so you can buy it only here.
Walking henro do not only make use of the old henro paths but also of roads busy with traffic. It is not unusual for walking pilgrims to walk at night and through tunnels, and almost have car accidents. To solve the problem, we have printed on the back of the poncho the phrases Namu Daishi Henjō Kongō (南無大師遍照金剛) and Dōgyōninin (同行二人) using reflective material, so that you are visible in the dark. Putting on the white rain poncho makes you truly feel like a pilgrim.
In general, it is enough for rainwear to have water pressure resistance, 10,000mm at
least.

Our previous rain poncho was able to withstand 20,000mm of rainfall, but it had to be thicker and heavier by 460g (1.01 pounds) and many walking pilgrims wanted to wear a lighter one.
The new model of the rain poncho has been updated to withstand over 10,000mm of rainfall, and made 100g (0.22 pounds) lighter.
A rain gear with high water pressure resistance usually has a low moisture permeability,
so we made our rain gear as a poncho having air permeability.
Furthermore, we have made the back of the poncho longer so that it is able to cover a 35-liter bag and protect it from rain.
A poncho without phrases printed on the back (so that it can be used on other pilgrimages) is also available at our store.
